Our organization drafted a bill for the legislature’s consideration, but we had no plan for getting it in front of lawmakers or stakeholders for review and comment. Thank goodness for Amy. With her broad and deep relationships across New Mexico, she developed and implemented a strategy and a timeline for meetings with key stakeholders, regulators and policy makers, which prompted serious statewide discussions and, ultimately, legislative sponsorship and passage in the Senate. I am convinced that without Amy Miller, the proposed bill would have never seen the light of day.
Our firm was awarded a quick-turnaround project by the NM Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department to evaluate the technical and economic viability of a biomass-fired power generation plant in northern New Mexico. Amy’s extensive experience with NM’s electric utilities made her a natural to research and report on not only future power demands in the region, but also modifications that would be required to integrate such a plant into the existing power grid. Within a two-week period she crossed northern New Mexico and met with executives at all of the public utilities and electrical cooperatives that serve the region, and then developed an incisive, relevant and substantive contribution to the final report. We would have never been able to complete this project without Amy’s interviewing, research and reporting expertise.
